Daily Inspirational Thoughts: How Did Freddie Mercury of Queen Live Life to the Fullest?

“Don’t stop me now! I’m having such a good time. I’m having a ball.” Lyrics from “Don’t Stop Me Now.” by Queen.

Watch the video.

Sunset through trees:Daily Inspirational thoughts, inspirational quotes, inspirational storiesGoogle marked Freddie Mercury Day, September 5, 2011, with a Google Doodle video of the hit song, “Don’t Stop Me Now.”  They invited songwriter and fellow Queen musician Brian May to share his thoughts:

“Freddie was fully focused, never allowing anything or anyone to get in the way of his vision for the future. He was truly a free spirit. There are not many of these in the world.

“To achieve this, you have to be, like Freddie, fearless—unafraid of upsetting anyone’s apple cart.”

Brian May quote about Freddie Mercury of the band Queen in an interview on Google’s Official Blog.

Queen toured the world and created numerous hit songs, including “We are the Champions.”

Inspirational stories about people who overcame personal obstacles, trials and tribulations can bring out the best in people.

One might expect any rock star to be bold and over-the-top at all times, yet Freddie had to overcome his innate shyness.

Brian also said this about Freddie Mercury in the Google blog post:

“He gave people proof that a man could achieve his dreams—made them feel that through him they were overcoming their own shyness, and becoming the powerful figure of their ambitions.

“And he lived life to the full.

“He devoured life. He celebrated every minute.

“And, like a great comet, he left a luminous trail which will sparkle for many a generation to come.

Do Miracles Really Happen? Buddha Inspirational Quotes: Of the Magic Key and the Miracle of Nature

“If  you wish to know the divine, feel the wind on your face and the warm sun on your hand.”

Buddha inspirational quotes

Here is a very interesting story about a lost key that was found in the most unusual way.

This story actually happened to me personally. It is one of those stories that will no doubt cause you to try and figure a rational explanation for how a lost key came back into my possession without human intervention.

Here is a little bit of important background. The first thing you need to know is that I am mostly blind. I say this because imagine trying to find a little lost key when you can’t see it.

Where I live, it is out in the country. My mother and her husband are my nearest neighbors, and I have the key to their house on my key ring. I use one of those plastic spiral wrist straps for my keys.

I walk my dog Molly Flagtail several times a day, and so I take the long, rocky path down from my house past Mom’s place to the road and then across the highway. We either walk onto the grassy area across the road  or walk about 1/4 mile of the road for her sniffing and relief

Somewhere, amongst the stones and grass, I lost the key to my mother’s house.

When I went to open the door to my mother’s house, I discovered that the key was missing from my key ring.

Well, finding a key out in the country where there’s lots of rocks and grass and long pathways is about as easy as finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.

I mentioned to my mom that the key had gone astray and to please keep her eye open for it among the rocks. But yet I did not feel concerned. I knew with certainty that I would somehow come upon the key.

As I was out walking the dog, I would keep myself aware, and I would imagine having that key. Said key would be perfectly safe and would not fall into the wrong hands. I had confidence it would come back to me.

Each time I was out, I would focus on the key for a moment with the feeling of finding it and holding it in my hand. When the birds called out to me or a squirrel would skitter past, I would say, “Please let me know if you see my missing key. Thanks!”

Was this a miracle prayer? You decide what makes sense for you. To me, I was simply connecting with nature holding positive expectancy in my thoughts, words and deeds, as I typically do unless I temporarily forget my way.

Three days passed and still no key.

A very funny thing happened to me. At night, I walked right out my front door to go close the chicken coop. As I stepped outside my door, I heard a little clink at my feet.

The key was on my porch right in front of my door.

I realize you might be thinking that the key had fallen there and it was right there on the porch for those several days. But it is quite frankly not possible.

With my various comings and goings numerous times a day to walk the dog, take care of the chickens, do everything else I need to do, I certainly would have come upon it. Either I would have found it with my foot or by my dog noticing. She notices any new thing that comes on to the porch all the time.

My mom came up the hill to my house 3 separate times during those 3 days and she never saw the key lying on the porch or anywhere else. She even said she had looked for it whenever she was out on the property.

The very interesting thing about this key is that it was mysteriously returned to me.

Mom said maybe her husband Bruce had put it on the porch. I replied, “Mr. Fort Knox? He would NEVER leave a house key on the porch. He would give it to me and lecture me about having lost it.”

She then suggested someone else had returned it. “I was home all day and nobody knocked on the door.” A visitor would have to either drive up or walk up past my mom’s house, which Molly and I would have heard. Nobody did.

Even if for some odd reason someone walked up and left it, Molly would have heard. Plus why wouldn’t they have left it at the much easier location of Mom’s place right by the road if they had found it?

Nobody other than Mom or Bruce would have known the key was mine.

So I maintain that because of my positive mindset and because of my close kinship with the animals and elements around me, somehow, and by whatever means I WISH I had seen, the key came home to me.

This is a minor miracle. This was an experience of the divine in “ordinary life.” As the inspirational quotes from the Buddha say, to feel the natural elements like wind and sun is to experience divinity.

This takes nothing away from anyone’s religious or spiritual beliefs. it does not alter anyone’s belief in God, Angels, benevolent spirits or whatever touches your soul.

Let these inspirational thoughts ignite your imagination. Only imagine what would happen if you truly believed in the power of a miracle:  prayer, thought, expectancy, or inspiration, or any other form you care to consider.

How can I open myself to wonders and miracles in everyday life?

Here are some things you can do starting right now.

1. Set aside your skepticism.

2. Stop watching the negative news.

3. Start saying and thinking, “What if this were possible?” instead of “It’s not possible.”

4. Take the 21–Day “I AM a Gift to the  World!” Challenge at www.ProfitableStorytelling.com/iamagift. It is free, and through the inspirational quotes, the beautiful Scroll and the 7 special missions, your heart, mind and spirit will open up in unexpected ways.

writing: Scoble, James Mowery, Technorati: Are BLog Comments and Blogs in Danger of Extinction? Beware the Link Bait Whores

Thursday, August 26th, 2010 11:53 AM · No Comments No Notes

Blog commenting is something that’s been on my mind lately, and today I came across a blog post by James Mowery on the subject. Evidently, blog commenting is a hotly debated topic these days.

I have a mixed opinion of it.

When is blog commenting good, in my opinion?

Yes, commenting on blogs is a great way to bring people back to your own site when you do it in a particular way (leading to a specific post and not the blog in general).

Blog commenting is good when you find and comment on relevant blogs (meaning blogs your audience would also benefit from)  It’s a good practice, if you have time (which…who does?) to post your own fresh content daily and then take that link and put it as the website link when you comment on 5 relevant blog posts (in your niche).

Piddledy-diddledy work that is better left to someone else. As a business owner, you need to focus on reaching your goals, serving your customers, creating content, marketing, etc.

It’s also great to comment when you find something you like on a blog and chime in to join the conversation.

Beware the Bad Blog Commenting Bots

because blog commenting is tedious enough to make an entrepreneur weep, business owners who want links leading back to their blogs are stooping to automation used in an extremely irritating manner to get linkbacks to their own blogs.

However, there are so many “bots” –  meaning automated blog commenting systems, that I get extremely frustrated with the whole thing. People who want to comment on lots of blogs tend to write these horrid generalized “say nothing” comments that could apply to anything at all.

I can’t tell you how annoying it is to get spammy comments like “that was an interesting article on this topic and I will be back to your blog.” This by someone who hasn’t even seen my blog and with a website that’s about real estate, pills or… unmentionables.

I call it link bait whoring. This happens when someone crafts a generalized says-nothing-much comment like the one mentioned above plus a direct link to a blog post and slams it across the blogosphere, irrespective of whether it’s posting to a relevant blog or not

Because of this practice, those of us truly serving our audience have to go to ridiculous measures to keep out the spammy bots.

I’ve got better things to do with my time! And so have you. But such it is.

I am so incredibly grateful for Akismet! That keeps it down to a dull roar, but I had to put a simple captcha on comments just to cause some of the automated bot talk to go away. Not a perfect solution, but better than Akismet alone.

Other Opinions on blog Commenting

here’s a bit from James Mowery’s post in which he shares comments from Robert Scoble, who said, “Comments are dead.”:

Scoble is most likely of this opinion because of his ability to generate plenty of conversation on services like Twitter and, most recently, FriendFeed. Other services like Disqus and Intense Debate offer third-party solutions to commenting on your blog, but FriendFeed could also serve as commenting service to anyone’s blog (or any other posted items) as well.[2. FriendFeed offers the ability for users to comment on items posted on a FriendFeed account. For example, when I complete this article, a notification will be sent to my FriendFeed friends. My friends on FriendFeed will be able to comment on that item if they please.] However, one must question if this is a viable option for those of us without hundreds of thousands of followers.

Here are some of James Mowery’s own views in the same post:

Blog readership desires new and effective ways to manage and post their comments. A service like Disqus is great for this because a user doesn’t have to sign up for various blogs to leave comments, but if a particular blog or site does not utilize the Disqus service, that user is back to square one.

To sum this up, commenting on blogs will continue to increase in popularity—Scoble was just being Scoble.[3. The best bloggers are those who can make themselves sound like geniuses but cover their ass if need be. I don't appreciate this form of blogging, but you do what you got to do

Social Media Revolutionizes Commenting

There truly can be plenty of commenting in various places as mentioned above. Remember, every post on Twitter is its own webpage, and one of the ways to get a good “bang” out of Twitter is talking about/responding to stuff about your topic using the keywords people are searching.

People are expected to be interactive these days. One of my friends just can't stand Twitter, reviews, commenting and all of it. It drives her nuts. She'll run straight to movie reviews on Rotten Tomatoes to help her decide what to see, but don't ever expect her to add one herself, to tweet or use Facebook! Anyone else notice a contradiction there? or is it just me?

I've had an occasional comment from FriendFeed, and I have to admit that sometimes I wonder if people don't have something better to do than sit around reading other people's feeds all day.

Changing the Way We Interact

Microblogs, review sites, the ability to add product reviews on sites such as Amazon and HSN, the Facebook Like Pages are all evidence that commenting of one form or another is here to stay.

I get more blog comments via my Facebook or Twitter links than I typically do on my blog.

And I have to tell you that I get all kinds of interesting and high-profile people reaching out to me because of the blog. So, comments or no, I'd say it's working!

Commenting may be changing, but there is no doubt whatsoever that interaction, sharing reviews, views, opinions and comments, is here to stay.

Is blog commenting going the way of the dinosaurs?

I don't see it happening. I Do wish real live people who actually are reading the blog would comment rather than link bait whoring bloggers using bots.

Blogging is GROWING

The question of whether comments are dead or alive leads to the question about the state of blogging itself. Is blogging in danger of extinction?

NO!

take a look at the following:

Hubspot Blog reports this news about businesses who blog. and why would they blog if they didn't get results like this?

A study of 2,300 HubSpot customers revealed that businesses that blog witness their monthly leads rise by 126% more than those who don't.  Read more:

writing: How to Write Articles People Want to Read

Friday, June 25th, 2010 11:32 AM · No Comments No Notes

As I share these tips about article writing and article marketing, realize that the same tips that apply to articles you hope people will put in their ezines apply to blog posts, special reports and other short media. They even apply to book chapters!

I used to have trouble getting myself to write articles. It’s a “slow boat to China” traffic tactic and it SEEMs to be very much an old world – web 1.0 – approach. Yet writing articles and submitting them to article directories and article submission sites like SubmitYourArticle gives you tremendous leverage.

Here’s an example.

I am a faculty expert for a few places, adn I always need fresh “meat” for them. So, I write articles, use the spinner called Article leverage which makes it so easy to have various versions that are unique enough to make the serch engines happy without me having to write 15 articles.

Then the system goes to work for me dripping out the articles over time (either a day, a week, 2 weeks, a month – or even all at once). This is a nice natural way to get content out without flooding the search engines all at once.

So I’ve been testing out the service and will give a review at another time. Suffice to say I’m very happy with it.

Then I can take a version of the articles and give them to the places where I am faculty, place a different version on my blog, and place a still different version of the same basic article into a Squidoo lens or Hubpage.

So maybe you’re wondering why YOU would do this if you’re not an expert “required” to submit fresh content each month. Why write articles?

There are a number of great reasons to write articles.

  1. Search engines love fresh content. Putting out even a couple articles a month, especaily if you use SUbmitYourArticle, will let you write 2 articles and get perhaps 10-15 or even more versions that are fresh.
  2. When you put the articles into directories or a submission syndication site, you spread the word. Wherever a content seeker likes to go, he’ll find  your article th ere, all without any additional effort to you if you use an automated service.
  3. Writing these pieces showcases your expertise.
  4. People who read what you write get to know more about your style. They can come to know, like and trust you if the articles are well done.
  5. You can pull versions of your own work into your blog, as I do, for added leverage. All you need to do is keep the integrity of the article source and include the resource box and the entire piece intact.

What makes for a good article?

  • easy to read
  • to the point
  • interesting
  • use a prominent keyword people are searching
  • short or “chunked”
  • exciting headline (title)
  • powerful reason to take action – a call to action
  • a story in the article to grab the reader’s attention

Here are some thoughts from Steve Shaw on his Creative Article Writing Blog:

  • Short paragraphs
  • bullet lists
  • numbered lists
  • short sentences
  • concise
  • use as few words as needed

The power of the story

Including a story is a great way to capture the reader’s attention. Why? Because you are hard-wired to love stories. I can’t resist this since I teach storytelling for business, and it’s true.

You may notice that I open my blog posts with stories all the time. It sets the scene for you and you can’t help but be drawn in. Your heart beats a little slower. You relax a bit, and your brain goes into a receptive mode in the presence of a story.

So don’t be afraid to include a story in yoru articles.

Here are some examples:

  1. based on a conversation
  2. based on your experience (personal narrative example)
  3. based on a frequently asked question
  4. based on a typical problem/challenge your reader has and how you solve it

THose ideas should get you started.

The key to successful article marketing

Consistency is key. Writing and submitting the occasional article won’t do you much good. You have to keep things fresh.

Your turn

writing: New Twitter Icon Factory Replaces TwitterIcon.com

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 10:58 PM · No Comments No Notes

I received a kind submission on my site from Jennifer from Twitter Icon Factory informing me of a change. This is definitely a courtesy, because the tool is free. Naturally, it is in their best interest, because the site is definitely new and improved.

Twitter Icon Factory replaces TwitterIcon.com. It is a free site that lets you put up a really cool graphic to attract Twitter followers.

I jsut had a great time looking at various Twitter icon graphics and selecting what I would use for this site. I wanted it to be recognizeable even for those not as adept with Twitter as some of us are.

Here’s the one I chose:

Twitter Icon
by Twitter Icons

So dash on over to Twitter Icon Factory now and get your own cool graphic.

And thank you, Jennifer and the team for keeping me in the know!

writing: How to Write a Multi-Author Book? Storytelling for Impact, Speak Up Save Lives and The Story of Impact

Friday, January 15th, 2010 9:34 AM · No Comments No Notes

Creating a book such as Ken McArthur and I are writing, which is The Story of Impact is an exciting and involved undertaking. He and I discovered that we make a fabulous team when I helped him with his first bestseller, Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions, and Make a Difference in a Noisy World.

He did all the writing for Impact and I helped him shape the material. He said his team of editors at Career Press only made 4 minor changes, one of which was a peculiarity of theirs that I could have incorporated had I known ahead of time. It seems th

ey don’t want you to say something is “like” something else. You have to say “similar” or some other synonym rather than like. Strange. Go figure.

I was thrilled that my involvement in the project made his life and theirs so much easier. Unfortunately, I never saw any message from Career Press asking who Ken’s capable editor had been and how to reach her and another offering to hire me as a book consultant or editor, but such is life!

For Ken’s next bestseller (yes, that is our plan), we are weaving together our own in-depth contributions plus the stories of our co-authors. Whereas other multi-author books are nothing more than an anthology of articles pasted together under a common theme, The Story of Impact will be a story of its own with co-author contributions that I  will integrate into the book. They will not be stand-alone articles.

The Story of Impact will have its own “story arc” as any novel has, because the book moves you from where you are now into a deeper understanding of how to purposefully and systematically create an impact in whatever arena you desire.

Having an impact can be a fuzzy, nebulous thing, however, Ken McArthur took a year of his life to study impact and devise a system for how you go about having an impact in a directed manner. He put it to the test in 2008 when he assembled the Impact Bootcamp and a cadre of experts to teach them the tools of impact, such as creating buzz and leveraging contacts. Although Ken McArthur has shared what happened with his Impact Action Team at live events, this will be the first time he will reveal what happened in a book.

I am so excited to share the story of the Impact Action Team and how they reached over 19 million people in a month for SpeakUpSaveLives.org.

Here’s a video about the Impact Action Team and SpeakUpSaveLives.org. They reached 1.9 million people

Right now, Ken and I are researching, writing, and planning the structure of the book. I’m also telling the stories of our co-authors. The interviews with these extraordinary people are fun and enlightening.

If you want to keep up with The Story of Impact, I encourage you to register at TheImpactStory.com.

writing: How to Write a Profitable Book: What Did #1 Bestselling Author Jason Oman Say about the Instant VIP System?

Friday, January 8th, 2010 9:01 AM · No Comments No Notes

Debuting a new system is always an interesting process. The first fun part is watching people who are true experts check out your program. I was so happy to find a testimonial message from someone whose opinion I value very much. He is someone who knows how to write an entrepreneurially sound book and turn it into a bestseller.

Before you can have a bestseller, you have to write a good book. I see so many authors leave piles and piles of money on the table because they don’t use the book to cause the reader to desire doing business with you. So the way I teach entrepreneurs to write a book is all about tying it to your business and setting the necessary tools in place so that people will get onto your email list and purchase other products from you.

My friend and colleague Jason Oman is the #1 bestselling author of Conversations with Millionaires, which you may know is one of the recommended books I feature here on this site. He has already brought his first book to #1 bestseller, so I was eager to find out what he thought of my Instant VIP System for writing a profitable book.

What he said is so phenomenal – and I can hardly wait to see it on the cover of the print version of the book. here’s what he called into my toll free hotline:

And here it is in print:

“This is Jason Oman, #1 bestselling author of CWM, and I called to tell you how impressed I am with your Instant VIP system for writing a profitable book. I took pages and pages of notes, and I will be applying everything I learned from your fabulous system in all my upcoming bestsellers.

“I’ve seen a lot of programs about writing books, but I have never seen anything else that teaches you the insider secrets to ensuring that your book truly boosts your business. Great job, Ronda!”

WOW, thanks so much!

Jason is getting another book ready for print in the coming months, and I can’t wait to see how he applies the Instant VIP System. If someone like Jason, a savvy businessman, took  pages and pages of notes while going through my system, I feel I’ve done something very right!

If you are any kidn of expert – entrepreneur, small business owner, speaker, coach or visionary – you absolutely need the credibility and prestige that being an author gives you. I would dearly love to be the one who helps you write your business-boosting, profit-producing, credibility-creating, media magnetizing book.

Visit www.InstantCredibilityBook.com now and become an Instant VIP Author!

writing: What’s The Story Lady Reading? The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

Thursday, January 7th, 2010 10:23 AM · No Comments No Notes

I’m always reading at least one book, so I’ve decided to share what I’m reading with you.  If you’ve read the book, please feel encouraged to add your own thoughts about it as well.

I just finished reading the Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield.  This is a story of intuition, insight and beauty. Instead of the author sharing his teachings in a nonfiction book, he chose to share them in a novel. This is the first of 4 books teaching the Insights that empower people to live from Source/beauty and stay connected wiht the divine power no matter what is happening around you.

The story begins as a restless former teacher hears from an old flame. She tells him about secret scrols and lost teachings in Peru that are being rediscovered, and every time she thinks of the scrolls, she thinks of him. Thus begins his H

ero’s journey and a huge adventure.

When John arrives in Peru, he discovers that government and church officials are trying to suppress the prophecy that he is now compelled to discover.

Here is the theatrical trailer for the movie based on the book:

This hybrid story/study guide for living connected with Source/divinity will hold your attention and give you something to think about as well. If you’re like me, you’ll gain a fresh appraoch to look at familiar understandings.

I am a person who has always let intuition guide me and someone who is aware of the energy of life around and within everything.  It’s fun to find a book that teaches people a way to live from intuition.

This book was a runaway bestseller, on the lists for 3 years. I first encountered the Celestine Prophecy because of the movie, which I watch several times a year. I actually found it at a WalMart, which surprised me for whatever reason. You can rent it from Netflix or your favorite rental place.

I am adding this to my recommended books section because I believe there are powerful insights that will help anyone along your path. The journey begins by understanding the power of meaningful coincidences that are truly messages.

The other insightstake you through a progression of adventure and understanding of how to awaken wisdom.

Most of the time, the book is better than the movie. I want you to read the book and see the movie, and in this instance, I feel the movie is better. And in the book you will gain some specific practices you can do yourself, revealed in the pages of John’s adventure.

writing: When Should You Give Free Consultations or strategy Sessions?

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 10:28 AM · No Comments No Notes

The most valuable commodity of any expert is your time. Why? Because as an expert, in only a few minutes, you are able to save someone a huge amount of time and headache by sharing your expertise.

The Passage of Time

A recent conversation caused me to w

rite you this post to assist you in your own business development. Learn from a mistake I made – and I should have known better!

The husband of one of my affiliates is considering writing a book. That in itself is a good thing! My affiliate told him that I coa

ch entrepreneurs on how to write a book, which of course is very

much true.

I broke one of my own rules, and I will not break it again.

This affiliate has not made a purchase from me. Why I mention this is because I offer a $500 value strategy session with me as a gift inside of my products. That means by the time you meet with me about author coaching or business mentoring or story coaching, you are already a buyer, not a freebie seeker.

Some business mentoring for you:

I don’t sell coaching through a sales page. only offer coaching after I’ve had a consultation. This allows me to decide whether I believe you are a good candidate for author coaching. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not up to the client to choose the coach, it’s important for the coach to screen and select the best clients.

When I worked for someone else, I inherited a LOT of “problem children” because he took anyone who would throw money at him, and many of those people were expecting too much done for them. (One of many reasons I am SO glad I work totally for myself is I get to screen my own clients instead of inheriting people who want me to serve them their completely formed business on a diamond-encrusted platinum platter when they are only paying for a guidebook for how to write a book served in a wooden goblet).

When I Offer A Complimentary Consultation

In the past, I used to offer a strategy session to

  1. Anyone who bought a product/service from me.
  2. Anyone at a live event with me.
  3. Anyone who came via one of my trusted allies.

Now, I typically give free strategy sessions under only 2 circumstances.

  1. I include a consultation as a bonus inside a product.
  2. We meet at a live event and I give you a consultation/strategy session.

In other words, I do not generally (except that I broke my own rule last week) give a free consult to an ally or affiliate. Experience shows me that these are not necessarily good candidates. I have various ways for people to experience my systems in the form of free gifts, inexpensive products and classes first.

When you develop a system, stick to it!

as I said, I broke one of my own rules to be nice to an affiliate. I know better. Please don’t make my mistake.

Back to the conversation with the affiliate’s spouse. I met with him for about a half hour about his potential book-business. I gave him top-notch business mentoring during this time. At the end of the call, he asked for a discount, figuring he deserved one as the husband of an affiliate.

Warning bells went off in my head.

I should not have given him my valuable time.

What I should have done was refer him to the Instant VIP Author Multimedia Home Study Program. (those are product links) Why? for several reasons.

The big ones are these::

  1. Because he is not a proven buyer; he has not invested in himself and his book-business idea with me yet.
  2. Because he immediately asked for a discount as if it were “owed to him” as an affiliate’s spouse, demonstrating he is more of a haggler than someone willing to truly invest in himself.,
  3. Because he has not experienced any aspect of the teaching within my system.
  4. Because a lot of his questions and concerns would be answered by knowing what and how I teach in the system and beginning to formulate his book idea before talking with me.
  5. And remember, he would get a free strategy session anyway as a buyer of either the Instant Credibility ebook or the Instant VIP Author Multimedia Home Study Program. (both of those are links to my products available for purchase). So after either purchase, he would qualify himself to receive a half hour of my valuable time.

And here are a few other considerations as well. Keep in mind that coaching sessions are a half hour long and there is no “done for you” in it:

  • I got the feeling what he wanted from coaching was for me to write FOR him or at least do some of the writing with him. That is an increased level of service, not coaching.
  • I got the impression what he wanted was for me to read everything he wrote. Again, this is another level of service different from coaching.
  • He wanted approval for his work. Deep down, everyone wants approval. However in terms of your book and business, approval is demonstrated by actions such as customers investing in you, media attention, and joint venture opportunities – not by your mentor.
  • He wanted me to do his editing. Again, different service. Editing is not coaching.
  • In other words, he would have treated coaching as if it were a “do it for you” service. I do offer ghostwriting and “write with you” services at a higher investment, and I am particular about the projects I take on.

What is coaching/mentoring?

For simplicity’s sake, I call the individual sessions where I guide you through writing your book coaching. People understand author coaching but not so much “author mentoring.” Not everybody has had guidance of that nature.

So, what is coaching?

I asked the would-be author if he ever had a child in little league or other sports.

He had.

“Did the coach ever pick up the bat and hit the ball FOR your child?”

“No.”

“Because that wouldn’t be coaching. That would be doing it FOR him. Coaching or mentoring is I teach you and give you the best possible tools, and you do the work.”

When I used to work on someone else’s team, he had a TON of clients who expected to pay for breakfast and be fed for a year. In other words, they bought a coaching package and expected their coach to spend hours and hours and hours doing things for them that they needed to do themselves.

There is no real way to guarantee coaching results, because I’m not coming to your house and forcing you to sit down at the keyboard to do your market research, formulate your business and write your book. Can I do that? Yes, but it will cost you exponentially more than hiring me to coach you. use the contact form to ask me about this extra special service.

the Deeper Issue for Many Would-Be Entrepreneur Authors

First understand that what I’m about to share is NOT a criticism of this person or anyone who feels similarly. Ultimately, this individual wanted things done for him because he lacks confidence in his message. He wants to write a book and simultaneously shrink into the background and hide behind someone else’s skill.

It’s common for a “messenger” who feels a strong desire to share your truth to feel uncertainty. After all, you’re about to be bold and brave and put your thoughts into print. You’re about to “take a stand” regarding what you believe.

Every entrepreneur author needs to develop your expert voice and your confidence. Remember, you are not only writing a book but building a business around it. You will share your message, promote your book, gain customers and in every other way grow your influence.

That means you are in charge of building your platform. Part of developing your business involves developing your expert voice. You gain confidence by speaking/writing/sharing your most important message over and over again.

I only take on ghostwriting or write it with you projects under certain conditions. Generally speaking, if you have an established platform and materials already “out there,” I will let you hire me, because you already have your business in place and your voice established.

The reason is because if I become your voice for you, I will cause you not to grow, and because you won’t have confidence in your message, you won’t get the media attention, instant VIP status, instant credibility, increase of customers and other benefits of becoming an author.

Although I might financially gain from taking on un-confident wannabe authors with no voice and no platform, I would not truly gain – and YOU would lose – because I would short-circuit your personal and business development.

My mission is to guide you through bringing out every ounce of greatness within you out into the light so you can be whom you are meant to be.

I hope that sharing how I re-learned a lesson I should have known will profit you.

writing: A New Holiday: ThanksLIVING

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 11:50 AM · No Comments No Notes

What would happen in your life if you lived every moment in gratitude, giving thanks for the wonder that is life?

What if you could actually see the divine spark inside every living creabeing – including the humans?

Would you think before cutting someone down and find the lessons in the knowing?

30 Days of Gratitude- Day 1

Would you stop yourself speaking words of war and instead become a living peace sign?

Would you be in such a place of glorious gratitude that you said a kind word to the family member who always did something of which you disapprove?

Would you stop yourself from mentally criticizing another find the good in that divine spark of divinity?

Would you begin a journey that day by day took you a step closer to uplifting every person you meet?

Would each moment of gratitude cause you to be kind to the person you are hardest on in all the world – yourself?

And would each single precious brilliant moment of gratitude you feel from the depth of your soul change your life forever?

Storytelling is at the heart of all experience. What happens to you in your life is not the events; what happens to you is the story you tell yourself about what happens.

Tell yourself a new story in which every  moment is joyful, heartfelt gratitude and begin a minute – an hour – a day – a month – a season – a year – a

lifetime of ThanksLIVING.

Amen.
